Maha Metro to run CIDCO's Navi Mumbai Metro for 10 years

Maha Metro to complete the balance work as a General Consultant;

In view of the quick and fast delivery of the project to Navi Mumbaikars, CIDCO in February 2021 had entered into an agreement with Maha Metro for completing the balance work of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1. This line is from Belapur to Pendhar and consists of 11 stations, 11 km track, a depot for maintenance at Taloja and two traction sub-stations at Panchanand and Kharghar. Maha Metro has completed the project in the promised time and completed the trail run of Metro in full stretch of Navi Mumbai Line 1 on 31.12.2022

CIDCO had to pay Rs 850 crore to Maha Metro for completing the balance work of Line 1 of Navi Mumbai Metro. Later on, the various works has been added in the project and the cost has also been increased. CIDCO has agreed to pay another Rs 885 crore plus taxes for running metro rail services on this line for 10 years. The 10-year period has begun from commercial operation date (COD) of Line 1 i.e 17.11.2023.

Maha Metro to run CIDCO's Navi Mumbai Metro for 10 years – Operation & Maintenance

City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the agency in-charge of Navi Mumbai Metro project, has appointed Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) for the Operation & Maintenance of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 (NMML1), for a period of 10 years.

The Commercial Operation of Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 has started on 17.11.2023 for the public of Navi Mumbai. Subsequently, Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 project was inaugurated and dedicated to the public by the Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 12.01.2024.

The section of NMML-1, 11.1 km stretch between Belapur Terminus to Pendhar metro station consists of 11 Elevated Metro stations. Namely, Belapur Terminus, RBI Colony, Belpada, Utsav Chowk, Kendriya Vihar, Kharghar Village, Central Park, Pethpada, Amandoot, Pethali Taloja, & Pendhar. With One Operation Control Centre (OCC) & Back up OCC at Taloja Metro Depot and Two Receiving Sub Stations (RSS) at Taloja Panchanand and Kharghar.

Maha-Metro has recorded total 43,08,147 passenger journey after the commencement of Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1(17.11.2023 to 21.10.2024), which amounts to Rs.11.25 Cr of fare box revenue out of which Rs. 4.60 Cr lakhs were collected digitally.

Metro trains are running with a headway of 15 min with total 5 trains (4 revenue trains and 1 standby train) from 06:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs initially and extended upto 23:00 from 08.04.2024. The average train delivery and punctuality achieved is 99.87% and 99.89% respectively.

A number of safety mock drills along with many on-job trainings for Fire-Fighting & First-Aid conducted to keep the staff aware of safety and to check functionality of equipment. O&M staff underwent various crash courses for the latest updates in various systems during this year.
